About Us

Little Calls was started by Morgan (5) and her dad as something to do together during "Summer Break" while many things are shut-down with Covid-19. After 3 months of doing remote school work together we thought this would be a fun way to continue to learn, have some structure to our days, and explore new things (and the outdoors) together. 

Morgan was given an Audubon bird call by her grandparents and wanted to make it prettier and more "unicorn like." This same week we had been talking about starting a business as a general idea (lemonade stand, garage sale flipping, etc.) when the idea of selling "unicorn calls" came to Morgan. Continuing to work through this idea, we decided to focus on a few initial bird calls that would be for mythical creatures ("so that people wouldn't really use them to try to call Cougars and other animals"). Morgan "couldn't stop thinking about this all through the night and into the next day."

As a family that goes for nature walks, hikes, and in general likes to spend time outside together - these bird calls are the perfect companion for adding fun to activities we're encouraging as a family. We now enjoy calling out different birds we see, giving them our own names if we don't know them, and even seeing how different types of birds interact. 

With the business, we're now getting to talk through costs, addition and subtraction, marketing, sales, painting, problem solving, packaging, shipping, customer satisfaction and so much more as we spend the days together working on Little Calls. 

We hope our friends, neighbors, and strangers will be able to find joy in these fun, silly and imaginative bird calls.
